Bad Hair Day

I can't help it, but I am obsessed with Medusa!  Ever since my participation in the Junior Classical League, Medusa has proven to be an award-winning muse.  In this particular rendering, Medusa's serpentine hair takes dinner into its own hands!

That Time of the Month

Hahaha, I couldn't resist this one!  When your on a deadline to draw as many figures as you can, there's nothing better than a roommates Swimsuit Edition calendar!

College Life

These are some figure studies I did at school.  The dance department is an unceasing source of inspiration.  But, even the mundane gestures around campus prove to be a good challenge.

Material Mezcla!

This is kitchen I came up with when I was bored.  In highschool I always hated explaining that, yes, this is considered a sketch to me!

Behind the Scenes

This past semester was a busy one for my baby!  As a dance major, he was always in some rehearsal or another.  Outside of school, he was even choreographing for his hometown's production of High School Musical 2.  And everywhere he went, I went!  These are just two of the scenes I captured in one of our typical days!

Multitasking

Well this was a busy day for me! I had just gotten my laptop and had to take it to the computer people in the Forney building on campus.  (Very nice renovations, by the way!) So while I was waiting, I took out my sketch book and drew the lobby area.  On the same page I worked out a design for my tattoo, which I got later the same day!

Don't ever listen when people tell you that tattoos don't hurt! They're lying!

"Yes, Pat IS left-handed."

This is a chair/desk/shelf unit I designed for an infamous Mr. Pat.  Theoretically, it is made out of a single 8' x 4' piece of plywood.  I actually like the concept a lot, and it would be really cheap to make considering the multiple uses for it!

"Wow, you do have skinny arms."

This is from a door installment I did with some friends.  I didn't care too much for it, but I love these pics I took of it.  The biggest challenge was threading fishing line through holes in the tubes.  Luckily my arms are skinny enough to fit inside them, so it wasn't too big of a problem.  Now, keeping the fishing line from breaking from the weight was a different issue.

"Oh, wow. That's great."

This little guy received a lot of praise, though it looks a hot mess! Hey, at least it photographs well.

The full effect.  This is an "interior" view of the space.  The popcorn kernel represents a person.  Signifying the overpowering weight of negative space upon positive space, this bad boy took a lot of scoring and a lot of glue.

I designed it as two pieces, with the black box having slits in it to fit over the flaps of the white piece.

"But where's the linear element?"

This is my favorite thing that I've made! This container represents Creation in the sense that Light is coming forth from Dark.  I used two papers, one a corrugated, stiff black, and the other a thin, fibrous white, giving two very different textures.  I also made this gradient scale from the same materials.
